SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- There is a huge police presence on 3rd Street near Oakdale and several streets are blocked off up to Palou after an officer-involved shooting.
The shooting happened shortly after 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of 3rd Street and Oakdale in San Francisco's Bayview District.
Witnesses say the shooting happened after the suspect de-boarded the T-Third Muni train and was confronted by police for not having a ticket. A chase ensued and the suspect was shot at six to ten times, according to witnesses.
The suspect was rushed to San Francisco General Hospital with unknown injuries.
The cause of the shooting has not been released by police. Tactical police officers have been called out for crowd control.

San Francisco police have shot a person in the Bayview district Saturday afternoon in what may be The City's second transit-related shooting in two weeks.
The shooting occurred about 4:30 p.m. near the Muni stop at Third Street and Oakdale Avenue. KGO (Ch. 7) reported that a man was shot at six to 10 times after getting off a T-Third Street light-rail train. The man did not have a valid fare and was running away from the train when shot to avoid paying a fine.
About three dozen police in riot gear were on the scene, with members of the neighborhood visibly upset. People who gathered at the Muni stop were throwing bottles at police, who had three blocks of Third Street blocked off, from Palou to Newcomb avenues.
The Fire Department was also on the scene and had a ladder going to the rooftop of a nearby building, possibly to search for a discarded weapon, according to police and fire officials.
On July 3, BART police officers shot and killed Charles Hill, who allegedly was drunk and wielding a broken bottle and one or two knives on the platform at the Civic Center station.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- New amateur video obtained by ABC7 News shows the first few minutes following an officer-involved shooting that claimed the life of a 19-year-old suspect in San Francisco on Saturday.
The video shows the suspect lying motionless on the ground near the intersection of Oakdale and Third in the Bayview District.
The incident took place shortly after 4:40 p.m. Saturday. The unidentified suspect was attempting to board a Muni train being screened by police for fare evaders. A brief chase ensued and the suspect was shot at multiple times.
Police say they opened fire after the suspect attempted to shoot in their direction.
"During the course of the foot pursuit, at this point we believe the suspect fired backwards at the officers and the officers returned fire in self-defense," Sgt. Michael Andraychak with the San Francisco Police Department said.
Eyewitnesses dispute this, telling ABC7 News they didn't see any shots being fired at the officers.
"I just seen shots going forward," said resident Henry Taylor. " I didn't see shots coming backwards."
The unidentified suspect was rushed to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7 p.m.
Police canvassed the tops of roofs in the area but wouldn't say if they had found a weapon that might belong to the suspect.
On Sunday, San Francisco Police Chief Greg Suhr said a weapon had been recovered by police after it was removed by an eyewitness at the scene of the shooting.
As angry residents gathered, police brought in extra units from other districts for crowd control. Tempers flared in the early morning hours of Sunday when a makeshift demonstration wound its way up the streets of Valencia and 16th. The crowd tipped over trash cans and expressed outrage at the fatal shooting.
Officers in riot gear patrolled the Mission District and the group of walking demonstrators eventually disbanded. There were no arrests.
Police say one officer fired the shots that struck the suspect. That officer was not wounded and is now on a routine paid administrative leave.
Investigations are now underway by the internal affairs department, the district attorney's office and the office of citizen complaints.

Wow killed over $1.50
ReplyDeleteYou should take down that youtube video. It identifies people in a way that is dangerous to them. Take that down stat!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the commentor above. You should take it down, or at least remove the parts that identify people.
ReplyDeleteYou know he had a gun and shot at the police first right?
ReplyDeleteReally. Take it down NOW! Why would the poster of the video want to point people out and endanger them?
ReplyDeleteHere's a link to the youtube vid without the stupid tattletale shit on it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZ5mGwrjHKo
ReplyDeleteIf we the police get to be on YouTube, so does everyone else. You ID us, well vice versa.
ReplyDeleteThe video has been changed, no more text boxes!
ReplyDeleteMatt, can you post the link to the video with the text boxes too?
ReplyDeleteEven if they take the video down now, you don't think the SFPD didn't already rip a copy for the investigation. And I agree with the comment above. If the public is so quick to post videos of supposed police misconduct and point fingers then it should work in reverse.
ReplyDeleteSadly, ALL of this is irrelevant because as disgustingly demonstrated in the Oscar Grant case the police PROTECT THEIR OWN!!! So just like that Bart officer in that case got off AFTER clearly being seen shooting an unarmed man who was also i might point out FACE DOWN AND HANDCUFFED, the officer who shot this young man will likely get off too! SAD, but TRUE...again another black man loses his life over NOTHING...what happened to that old adage "To Protect and Serve"? Well who protects us innocent people/civilians from YOU the police?!!!

ReplyDeleteDon't use Youtube. They're taking down videos. Use Live Leak.
does anybody even read the facts about this guy or what really went down ?!! ....... this is not an Oscar Grant situation ! ..... put down your torches &pitchforks & read the fucking facts ! ..... this guy was wanted for the murder of a pregnant 19 year old , tried to pimp a 14 year old & was just released after doing time for sexual assault ! ..... he shot at the cops , the gun was recovered by a bystander that decided to just make it disappear....... read the facts !!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous The cops had no idea who he was when they were shooting at him. They had no idea he was wanted in another state. The witnesses say he didn't shoot at the police, and the fact is he was killed over MUNUI fare. Multiple cops chased down a man and killed him because he was running away from a fare. He was not shot because of what he might have done in Washington.
ReplyDeleteHe was shot because he was shooting at anyone and everyone while he was running from police - I love that the video shows the victims gun 20 feet from his head. Let's start working to make the world a better place.
ReplyDeleteLMAO THE SUSPECTS GUN IT CLEARLY VISIBLE AT HTE BOTTOM RIGHT PART OF THE SCREEN IN THE FIRST VIDEO!!!!!! i love how these ghetto rats wait until one of their fellow baboons picks it up to start yelling WHERES DA GUN AT?!?!
ReplyDeleteHe didnt get shot for not paying a fare. Thats why they approached him and he ran away. They chased him and he had a gun and got shot. We are all better off without this piece of crap around. He made his bed and its on him. Hey the Police screw up and make mistakes at times and they are hotheads at times as well and this was not one of them.
ReplyDeleteSF Medical Examiner determines that Kenneth Harding "accidentally shot himself to death with his .380 caliber handgun...police shot him in the leg." Google it. Police did absolutely nothing wrong. Know the facts before you pass judgement.
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice article which most street crimes involves the police. Many of these were police action which the suspects are innocent or were mistaken identity.
